Bogdan Klich has served in the Senate of the Republic of Poland since 2011. Prior to this, he held the position of the Polish Minister for National Defense from 2007 to 2011. From 2004 to 2007, he was a Member of the European Parliament for the Civic Platform Party and sat on the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs. Senator Klich was also a member of the Polish Parliament from 2001 to 2004, where he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, a member of the Committee on National Defense, the Polish representative and member of the Policy Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.  From 1999 to 2000 he was a Deputy Minister of National Defense and from 1989 to 1999 he was an Advisor to the Chief Negotiator of Poland with the European Union. In 1997, he was nominated as a President of the Institute of Strategic Studies, where served till 2007. Senator Klich has been awarded the Order of Merit for Defense of Lithuania and the Gold Medal of Merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.
